Week 7 at Intermode: Designing for Impact, Drafting for Purpose, and Staying Curious
This week at Intermode, I continued pushing forward our effort to elevate the visual appeal of our robots both on-screen and in the real world.
I’ve been in continued communication with potential designers who might help us rethink how our robots look, especially in the context of media and marketing. With guidance from my Digital Summer Clinic mentors, I also reached out to a local vehicle wrap agency in Ann Arbor to explore real-world options for redesigning our robots’ exteriors.
On the video side, I drafted two shot lists: one for an introductory video that will live on Intermode’s homepage and social platforms, and another that repurposes footage from that same video to loop seamlessly as a background visual on the website. These videos will highlight key features like our robots’ durability, delivery capabilities, speed, and real-world testing, while also communicating our commitment to equity and accessibility.
I also continued developing our social presence. I created and posted another employee spotlight video, and I used Adobe Photoshop to blur sensitive areas in a behind-the-scenes photo of our engineers. That image will soon go live with a playful CTA encouraging followers to guess what we’re working on. It’ll be shared across LinkedIn, Instagram, and X to generate curiosity and engagement.
Other social media efforts included an Instagram story prompting followers to check us out on LinkedIn, and a future-scheduled post highlighting our rigorous battery testing process—reinforcing the level of care that goes into each of our robots before deployment.
During this week’s DSC check-in, I got valuable feedback on resume bullet points I’d written to reflect my time at Intermode. I also pitched a few video content ideas to my supervisor, which I hope to bring to life in my final weeks at Intermode.
Finally, I had the chance to participate in the “Intern to Impact” speaker panel at the weekly Spark East all-hands meeting. It was inspiring to hear from past Digital Summer Clinic interns like Chris Dotson, Nisah Tahara, and Taylor Nash. The conversation was full of valuable advice, and it reminded me of the bigger picture behind this summer experience.
With only a few weeks left, I’m more energized than ever to keep creating, learning, and helping Intermode showcase its mission through storytelling and design.
Stay tuned to hear more next week! Only two weeks left...
