Two Weeks In: My Internship Journey with Intermode Begins

As part of the Digital Summer Clinic, I recently began my internship with Intermode, a Michigan-based robotics startup working to revolutionize delivery and logistics through autonomous mobile robots. Now that I'm two weeks in, I wanted to reflect on the experience so far and share what I’ve learned.

Getting Started

From day one, it was clear that Intermode is a fast-paced, innovative environment. I hit the ground running - meeting the team, getting familiar with the Modal delivery robot platform, and diving into how the company is positioning itself for growth in the mobility and automation space.

One of the highlights of my first week was attending the Michigan Manufacturing Angel Group Demo Day at Lawrence Technological University. I captured video content throughout the event and put together a recap video that I later shared to Intermode’s channels. This was my first real taste of how storytelling and content creation directly support startup visibility and investor engagement.

My Role

I’m interning on the digital marketing side of the business. So far, I’ve been working on:

  • Building and organizing content libraries for Intermode’s social platforms

  • Familiarizing myself with Blaze AI, a software used to create and schedule out content

  • Creating blog and social media content to help showcase Intermode’s mission and progress

  • Researching best practices for startup marketing and analyzing peer strategies

It’s been exciting to take ownership of real projects and see how my work fits into the broader goals of a growing startup. I'm also collaborating closely with my partner intern and receiving guidance from Intermode’s leadership and the Digital Summer Clinic mentors.

Looking Ahead

In the weeks to come, I’ll be helping develop a comprehensive social media strategy as Intermode ramps up for its fall fundraising campaign. I’m especially excited to work on storytelling around the Modal robots, the communities they serve, and the future of last-mile delivery.

These first two weeks have been energizing, challenging, and full of learning. I'm looking forward to what’s next and can’t wait to keep growing - both as a marketer and as a member of Intermode’s mission-driven team.
