Week 5 at Intermode: From Robot Wraps to Cultural Intelligence

Week 5 at Intermode: From Robot Wraps to Cultural Intelligence

This week at Intermode was a fun mix of creative trends, technical learning, and professional growth. One of my favorite projects was turning the popular “choose your character” sound into a “choose your robot” video, featuring Intermode’s diverse lineup of robots and the unique problems each one solves. I also jumped on a few other trends, including “propaganda we’re not falling for” and “holy airball,” adapting them to align with Intermode’s messaging and voice. These trend-inspired posts helped keep our content relevant and engaging across platforms.

This week also marked a milestone for me: I published my first carousel-style post on Intermode’s LinkedIn page! The post, titled “One foundation. Infinite robots.” showcased how Intermode’s modular robot platform supports a wide range of applications. It was exciting to see the format resonate with our audience! The post received 303 impressions, 231 clicks, a 76.24% click-through rate, and an 81.19% engagement rate.

These results showed me how effective a well-executed carousel can be for visual storytelling and engagement on LinkedIn. I’m looking forward to experimenting more with this format in the weeks ahead.

Mid-week, I had the chance to observe Intermode’s engineers during a welding training session at Newlab. I snapped some behind-the-scenes photos and shared them in a LinkedIn post that sparked great engagement. I also uploaded a short video from the training that’s now live on our YouTube Shorts channel.

One of the bigger projects I took the lead on was drafting a proposal to outsource the aesthetic redesign of Intermode’s robots. The goal is to make them more visually appealing on camera and in photos. I’ve since started collaborating with a designer who typically works on car wraps, but they’re now using those skills to create a custom robot wrap that aligns with our brand identity.

On the backend, I spent some time reorganizing our SharePoint system to better manage all of the marketing materials I’ve been developing. This included uploading content I’ve created over the past few weeks and making it easier for the team to find and use these assets.

I also kept up with our weekly employee spotlight series, posting on Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and YouTube. These highlights are a great way to showcase the people behind the tech and bring some personality to our brand.

While shadowing Intermode’s engineers and chatting with the team, I learned about two particularly clever solutions they’ve developed: custom PEM inserts and a simple but effective headlight alteration for one of the robots. I turned both of these insights into LinkedIn and X posts, emphasizing how easily and efficiently Intermode can adapt to customer needs.

On the Digital Summer Clinic side, I began thinking about the personal branding portion of my work. I identified three people I’d like to connect with on LinkedIn and drafted three strong bullet points to describe this internship experience on my resume.

To wrap up the week, I attended the Cultural Intelligence Cookout, where I heard from Jorel McCree (Pinterest), Sierra Lambert (Gig-L), and Andrew Yang (Parhelion). Each speaker offered valuable insight into how they practice cultural intelligence within their companies, and how they connect with broad, diverse audiences. It was an inspiring reminder of the importance of inclusive design and communication - something I’ll be keeping in mind as I continue to create content.

Thanks for following along with my journey. More updates coming next week!
