Week 6 at Intermode: Communicating Better, Designing Smarter, and Learning What Clicks
This week at my internship with Intermode through the Digital Summer Clinic, I focused on improving how we collaborate with outside creatives, especially for projects that fall outside our team’s direct skill set.
One major task I’ve been working on is designing a custom wrap for our delivery robots. The goal is to give them a more polished, eye-catching look, especially when we feature them in content. I’ve been reaching out to freelance designers on Fiverr to find the right partner for the job. The first designer I connected with didn’t end up working out, which pushed me to refine my communication approach. I realized that the initial project outline I shared (a text-heavy PDF) wasn’t as effective as I hoped.
So this week, I transformed that document into a more visual slide presentation, using images and references (some AI-generated!) to better communicate our creative vision. It’s a small shift, but one that’s already making a big difference in how clearly the project comes across. Once I finalize a few more details, I’ll be moving forward with hiring a new designer.
Beyond that, I continued working on content strategy. I repurposed a blog post by my intern partner, Nadia, into a carousel for LinkedIn and Instagram. While doing so, I also dove deeper into Intermode’s social analytics to better understand what’s performing best on each platform. Here’s what I’ve noticed so far:
-
LinkedIn: Carousel posts and employee spotlight videos get the most engagement.
-
Instagram & YouTube Shorts: Reels with trending audio consistently perform well.
-
X: Still a bit of a mystery, but I’m testing and learning every week.
One of the highlights of the week was posting a behind-the-scenes look at how one of Intermode’s engineers used a precision saw to help ensure our battery modules are compressed consistently. That video went up on LinkedIn, YouTube Shorts, and X.
Although I missed this week’s Digital Summer Clinic all-hands meeting due to a swim meet, I’m looking forward to diving back in and continuing to build on everything I’ve learned so far.
Thanks for following along!
