Wrapping Up My Internship with Intermode & the Digital Summer Clinic

Wrapping Up My Internship with Intermode & the Digital Summer Clinic

Last night officially marked the end of my internship with the Digital Summer Clinic, and what an incredible journey it has been.

Over the course of this 9-week, 90-hour internship, I stepped into the world of digital marketing in tech, a significant shift from my previous experience in sports marketing. Working with a tech startup in Detroit, MI, gave me a whole new perspective on marketing strategy, content creation, and adaptability. Nothing compares to the hands-on learning you get in a fast-paced startup environment.

I am so grateful to Intermode and my supervisor, Arnold Kadiu, for taking a chance on me and giving me the freedom to experiment with new ideas on the company’s social channels. Thank you to my intern partner, Nadia Jahan, for working alongside me throughout the summer and supporting me every step of the way. I also owe thanks to Kimberley Barker for encouraging me to apply, and to Bud Gibson and the Clinic team for selecting me from nearly 700 applicants.

My Final Week at Intermode

This week was all about wrapping things up and making sure everything I worked on over the summer would be easy for the next person to access. I finished up the final posts I had been creating, then turned my focus to a major organizational project; completely restructuring the SharePoint folder where we store all of our marketing materials.

This wasn’t just a quick clean-up. I spent hours uploading everything I had captured and created over the summer, as well as sorting through thousands of pre-existing marketing assets. To make the folder system as user-friendly as possible, I created a “read-me” guide explaining the structure, naming conventions, and where to find everything. My goal was to leave behind a streamlined system that can run smoothly now that I’m gone.

Looking Ahead

This summer has been an unforgettable chapter in my career journey. I’ve grown my skills in content creation, learned the ins and outs of startup marketing, and gained a new appreciation for the importance of organization and process in creative work.

While I’ll miss the energy and creativity of working with Intermode, I’m excited to dive back into my passion, sports videography, as I return to my internship with Eastern Michigan University Athletics this fall.
